Pack your Manolos: Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment is available for rent on Airbnb
By Natalie B. Compton
Airbnb has announced great news for “Sex and the City” fans. No, not great news.
For just two nights, the company is offering an apartment designed to resemble Carrie Bradshaw’s fictional brownstone for just $ 23 a night, a nod to the show’s 23-year history. (With taxes and fees, the stay will actually cost $ 26.22, a price so low that even a sex columnist for a local newspaper could afford it. Being able to afford to live there … is another story.)
To promote HBO Max’s 10-episode reboot of “SATC”, which will debut in December, Airbnb is listing Upper East Side ownership on Friday and Saturday for two overnight stays. The reservation opens Monday noon for a maximum of two people at a time.
Sarah Jessica Parker will be showing up to reprise her lead role – from a distance, anyway. The actress will virtually greet visitors at check-in time to greet them for a special experience that comes with perks that will make fans say “okay!” “
Renters can drink free Cosmopolitans or pretend they’re late for their rubric deadline and play with Carrie’s laptop. The apartment is equipped with a 2000s cordless telephone to filter your calls and a leather armchair reminiscent of Aidan’s rustic style.
The advantage with the most zsa zsa zsu has to be Carrie’s iconic blue dressing room. (You know, the one she had to clean so Aidan could keep racking up her five nearly empty Speed Stick deodorants?)
Guests will get a styling and photoshoot, and they can try on their favorite outfits from the show, such as the Patricia Field tutu from the opening credits. Other looks in the promo photos include “the nude dress,” a pair of mismatched pumps from the SJP collection, and the red cowboy hat Carrie wore to her night at the beach with Big and Natasha.
“I am delighted that our audience is discovering Carrie’s New York City like never before and walking in her place, literally, for the first time,” Parker said in an Airbnb press release.
People who book a stay are responsible for paying for their trip to and from New York City. If the coronavirus situation changes and it becomes necessary to cancel reservations, Airbnb says it will offer guests a $ 1,000 Airbnb travel credit.
The Special Stay, a partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, isn’t the first promotion to make Airbnb headlines. Previous highlights include the home from the horror movie “Scream”, a Disney Winnie the Pooh inspired “Bearbnb” and a bedroom in the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” mansion in Los Angeles.
