Metallica launches a series of live performances and documentary films
Metallica and The Coda Collection have unveiled a series of live performances and documentary films spanning the band’s 40-year history premiering exclusively on the platform in spring 2022.
As part of this partnership, seven titles will be released for the very first time, spanning Metallica’s four-decade history. The live performance films will allow fans to relive some of their most iconic performances over the past four decades, starting with trick stunts and Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria: Tres Noches en la Ciudad de México.
The Coda Collection will soon be releasing footage from Metallica’s 2021 40th Anniversary LIVE concerts at the Chase Center in their hometown of San Francisco. The two separate concert films feature new edits and fully remixed sound around the band’s two sets, which included deep cuts and songs the band had performed live for the first time.
Also in the movies run is A year and a half in the life of Metallicathe 1992 documentary chronicling the creation of the band’s self-titled fifth studio album. Magnetic Quebec is a concert film documenting back-to-back shows at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec, Canada, during the band’s 2009 Magnetic World Tour, while English For One Night presented the band’s set at the Arène de Nîmes in Nîmes, France in 2009.
